Rio Marathon is considered as one of the most beautiful runs on the planet. With the Serra do Mar Mountains rising inland from Rio’s fabulous shoreline, this scenery with ocean and mountains makes the course one of the more picturesque marathon in the world. The race is fairly flat and pass through the famous neighborhoods like Leblon, Ipanema, Copacabana, Botafogo, Flamingo and finishes at Marina Da Glória.
The running festival starts on Thursday with the opening of the Race Expo. The half marathon with 10km and 5km races are done on Saturday and the full marathon on Sunday. There is an entry for the 21k & 42km challenge that requires the runner to do half marathon on Saturday and full marathon on Sunday.
