Description

The TCS Amsterdam Marathon is an annual marathon in Amsterdam in the Netherlands since 1975. This year it’s celebrating its 50th edition and promising one of the most unforgettable race experiences ever.

The road race has a Platinum Label from World Athletics and is a qualifier for the major marathons and ultra-marathons worldwide. During the event there is also a half marathon and a 7.5km as the city of Amsterdam is celebrating 750 years of existence. The Amsterdam marathon is an event for the whole family.

The route starts and finishes at the Olympic Stadium. The course is flat and fast with a maximum elevation of 10 meters at 37km. The course record is 2:03:38 achieved by Tamirat Tola of Ethiopia in 2021. The 2022 event has 45 000 participants from 130 countries.

Departure from South Africa

Depart from Johannesburg / Durban / Cape Town on your international flight to the Netherlands. Overnight travel.

Arrival in the Netherlands – Welcome to Amsterdam

Arrival at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport

Visit to the official Marathon Expo to collect race packs

Your first day in Amsterdam introduces you to one of Europe’s most beautiful and runner-friendly cities — famous for its canals, cycling culture, historic architecture, and vibrant atmosphere.

7.5km Race & Final Marathon Preparation

Participation in the official 7.5km event (optional)
Light shake-out and mobility session
Free time for sightseeing and souvenir shopping
Optional Pasta Dinner & detailed route analysis session

Whether you choose to race or simply enjoy the atmosphere, Saturday brings the city alive with runners from around the world. We’ll also break down the fast and scenic Amsterdam Marathon course — including the famous Rijksmuseum passage, Vondelpark surroundings, and the electric finish inside the Olympic Stadium — ensuring you are mentally and physically prepared for race day.

08:00 – Amsterdam Marathon (42.2km)
13:00 – Amsterdam Half Marathon (21.1km)

Run alongside Amsterdam’s famous canals, historic streets, and beautiful open landscapes before finishing inside the legendary Olympic Stadium.
